Tracking Scoresheets

Soon after I started playing tournament Scrabble, I designed my own Scrabble scoresheet to aid in tracking. Features include grouping of all letters in proximity and in an aesthetically pleasing manner, with a large text typeface of Book Antiqua to help reduce mistakes. Power tiles are centered for prominence, and a place for notes is provided. A second version was made with the same parameters, made smaller to allow for recording of 4 games on one sheet of paper.

The 2025 versions further innovate by grouping all of the vowels together, aiding further precision and accuracy throughout the game vis a vis tile pool distribution awareness.

Study Aids

A question many experts get asked is, "What do I study?" The most common answer is to first familiarize yourself with Mike Baron's Cheat Sheet. It contains 2236 of the most useful words for tournament play. This sheet consists of 107 two-letter words, 1085 3s, 137 J words, 23 Q words, 119 X words, 129 Z words, 202 7-letter words from bingo stems TISANE, SATIRE, and RETINA, 156 more high probability 7s, 130 high probability 8s, and 148 vowel dumps.

Words List Name
2236 Mike Baron's CHEAT SHEET
107 The 2s
235 3s not formed from 2s
293 JQXZ 4s with Abridged Definitions
382 Vowel Heavy Bingos with Abridged Definitions

The two-letter words and power 4s (words using at least one of JQXZ) are also included in their own sheets along with abridged definitions to help retention. Should you master those, I encourage you to take a look at longer words such as high fives and vowel heavy bingos. More lists will be added in the future, along with a roadmap to help you on your learning journey.
